What’s Your Body Saying?

A Body Monologues Workshop

Imagine for a second that whatever you are feeling in your body, be it tension, pain, upset stomach, headache, lethargy, too fat, emotional etc., could be translated into words. Imagine that your body had a message for you. Imagine your body had a voice. Imagine it has a story. What would it be saying? As certified yoga instructors and co-founders of Body Monologues, Lindsey White and Mandy Wintink bring with them a perspective of mindfulness to this interactive space. Lindsey brings wisdom as a naturopathic doctor specializing in mental health. Mandy brings wisdom of the mind as a practicing Life Coach and Applied Neuroscientist-Psychologist. Join them for an interactive six-week workshop to explore the wisdom in our bodies. Click here for a workshop outline.

Types of Events

On-Stage Event

The on-stage performance is the main event, consisting of a collection of real people with real stories to share. The stories are expressed in many forms including spoken word, poetry, drama, song, dance, art, comedy, etc. A call for proposal is made, proposals are received, interviews are done, and every attempt is made to include all monologues in some form or another. Approximately 15 presentations are invited to present their monologue at the main event as part of a diverse set of monologues. The event is normally about 2 hours in length with an intermission and has takes place at a variety of venues.

Workshops are complementary events that support the main event, typically around the time of the main event or as promotion of the main event. In the workshops people come together to explore their own body monologue and to explore the possibility of transcending self-abuse and find more self-love and self-acceptance through the careful and mindful facilitation by Lindsey and Mandy.

Yoga Classes

Lindsey and Mandy are both registered yoga teachers who have a practice both on and off the mat. Lindsey completed her 200hr yoga teacher training with Jenny Kierstead through Breathing Space Yoga Studio in 2007. Mandy is trained in the Kripalu tradition and competed her 200hr training with Jody Myers and Silver Frith through the Atlantic Yoga Teacher training in 2008. Their yoga classes, as part of Body Monologues, are an opportunity to explore sensation in the body and to develop a mindful practice that inspires greater body awareness, self-care, and self-love. Lindsey and Mandy are not affiliated with any yoga studio and only teach yoga as part of a greater teaching practice that includes Body Monologues and Mandy’s private Life Coaching and Personal Development Course.
